The Hookup Plan by Farrah Rochon

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and the publisher for an honest review. This book will be published on August 2, 2022.

I loved this entire series. Book 3 is about London, a pediatric surgeon who is almost at the end of her residency and contemplating offers from other hospitals. Her current hospital is undergoing an audit that will determine if the hospital gets sold to a private company, which London fears. She goes to her high school reunion and encounters Drew, her academic nemesis. But he’s grown up hot, and she finds herself attracted to him despite her history of hating him. They banter and find they have a mutual attraction. She is surprised to learn Drew’s company is conducting the hospital audit. They keep running into each other and embark on a hookup only relationship. Soon they develop real feelings and some decisions have to be made. Cute and spicy romance with appearances by the other 2 ladies from the prior books. I loved it.

Review of Dating Dr. Dil by Nisha Sharma

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I received an advance reader copy of this book to be published March 15. This book has it all – humor, fake romance, sweater vests, a bridezilla, very sexy scenes, and bonus – multiple sets of aunties! I love the aunties. Kareena is a 30 year old woman whose family is concerned because she is still unmarried. Prem is a cardiologist who does not believe in love. They happen to meet at a restaurant and things go well until he suddenly has to leave at an awkward time. She later accompanies her engaged sister to the Dr. Dil talk show and discovers that Dr. Dil is Prem. Kareena and Prem get into a huge argument which goes out live on her sister’s Instagram stream. Kareena wants to buy the family home from her dad before he puts the house on the market, but she needs her wedding fund which he will only release if she is engaged. Prem is trying to open a health care community center and needs to rehabilitate his image after losing an investor due to the Instagram video. He proposes a fake engagement to Kareena to achieve both their goals. Kareena wants true love so she pursues online dating, plus her aunties try to find a man for her. Prem and Kareena spend time together to heal their relationship while she considers his offer. Their relationship progresses and becomes intimate. Kareena has to decide if she can accept marriage with a man who says he can never love her, and Prem has to figure out if he is capable of loving someone.

Great book. I loved every minute of this one.

In a New York Minute by Kate Spencer

Review of an ARC I received from NetGalley.
In a New York Minute by Kate Spencer ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This will be published in March 2022. I highly recommend it. Franny is a designer having her worst day ever. She loses her job, and on the way home her dress gets caught in the train doors and rips down the back. Hayes comes to the rescue loaning her his suit jacket to cover her. A passenger filmed their “meet cute” and posts it on Instagram and they go viral. They appear on a local morning show and when they see each other again the meeting is awkward. They part ways but end up running into each other at different places. Hayes eventually hires Franny to design his company’s new office space. Things progress from there but not without a few obstacles. In the end they are perfect for each other. Very cute story and I really liked the characters.

Book review of Legacy by Nora Roberts (ARC I received from Net Galley of her upcoming book to be published in May 2021)

I have read several of Nora’s series (the Brides series and the Boonesboro Inn series were favorites) including some stand alone books and some involving the supernatural and witchcraft. This appears to be a stand alone book and would be considered a contemporary romantic suspense book (no supernatural elements). The book opens with “the first time Adrian Rizzo met her father when she was 7, he tried to kill her” and unfolds from there. Adrian’s mother never told her about her father because it was an affair her mother had with a college professor. Adrian’s mother launched a yoga workout video business while pregnant with Adrian and Adrian participated in her mother’s workout videos each year. The tragedy when Adrian was 7 leads her to spend some time with her grandparents in her mom’s hometown, where Adrian meets some new friends and a boy that will alter her life later in the book. In high school Adrian forms some lifelong friendships and finds business partners to start her own workout video enterprise. As her business takes off, she begins to receive threatening letters each year. She moves back to the small town when her grandmother dies to help out her grandfather and there begins a new chapter in her life, with old and new friends, the boy she met when she was younger, a big sweet dog, and the ever present danger as the threatening letters begin to escalate. She races to find out who is behind the threats before her friends or family get hurt. There are lots of exercise and yoga details, and great dogs. Love the dogs. There is a final confrontation with the person behind the threats, and everything is wrapped up nicely. Dogs to the rescue. Very good dogs. I recommend this book for anyone who wants a good engaging read. And good dogs.

Review of Grave Reservations by Cherie Priest (to be published later in 2021)

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and the publisher.
I loved this book. It’s a funny witty murder mystery. Leda is a travel agent with some psychic powers who rebooks a client’s trip at the last minute which saves him from a plane crash. The client, a police detective named Grady, convinces Leda to work with him to solve a father/son murder case which they soon realize may be tied to the death of Leda’s fiancé years ago. The characters were fun and witty and this was a very enjoyable read. I hope this becomes a series as I look forward to Leda’s future adventures.
